Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program

How The Energy Alliance Helps Homeowners

Reducing the Cost of Energy Assessments

The first step to lowering your energy consumption and making your home more comfortable is a comprehensive home energy audit, also known as an energy assessment. Our home energy assessment is a 3-5 hour comprehensive look at your home’s air leaks, mechanical equipment performance and safety, insulation levels, and air quality. Through a partnership with our approved contractors, we have reduced the cost of comprehensive energy assessments to only $50* for most homeowners in Hamilton, Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties, regardless of income. We believe the best way to reduce your energy bill is to first understand your home's energy performance with our Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program.

Finding Qualified Home Performance Contractors

Unsure where to find a qualified energy professional? The Energy Alliance provides you with a list of professionally certified and insured home energy contractors through our Home Performance Program with ENERGY STAR®. All of our home performance professionals are certified by the Building Performance Institute, a leading nonprofit organization that provides standards for energy efficiency professionals. Using the "house as a system" approach, our home performance contractors assess energy saving opportunities as well as your home's comfort, health, and safety.

Creating a Roadmap for Your Energy Savings

After your home energy assessment, your home performance professional will provide you with a report detailing what measures can be taken to reduce your utility bills, the cost of each improvement, and the return on home investment (through energy savings) for each measure. Typical recommended measures can include adding or replacing insulation, sealing air drafts, and upgrading to high efficiency furnaces. Your energy assessment report provides a roadmap for energy savings, starting with those measures that have the highest impact per dollar.

Providing Incentives That Make Energy Improvements Affordable

The Energy Alliance provides incentives of up to 35% and low-interest loans to reduce the cost of each measure found on your energy assessment report. In addition, the Energy Alliance connects you to other available federal, state, and utility incentives. By working with the Energy Alliance to invest in home energy improvements today, you can start saving on your utility bills for years to come.

Ensuring the Quality of Your Home Energy Improvement

We routinely perform quality assurance testing on all of our approved home performance contractors to ensure the highest quality of work. Not satisfied with your home performance professional? You can turn to us to ensure the problem is resolved or connect with another home performance professional by contacting Mike Robinson at mrobinson@greatercea.org.

* Reduced cost $50 home energy assessment applies to homes under 3,000 square feet. Additional charges apply for larger homes, click here for details.
